1. What are the requirements of this program?

  • Resident of Vickery Meadow (Area A; Zip Code: 75231)

  • Have an income of $27,749 or less

  • Eligible to work in U.S.

  • Single parent

  • Not enrolled in school

  • Have high school diploma or equivalent

  • Meet credentialing training program for Mountain View College

  • Screening for project prospects to assess for eligibility criteria, readiness & informed interest

More about the project

 

1. Do I get paid for training?

  • No, but the training offered is free.

 

2. What does the time commitment look like?

  • This training and job transition program lasts for two months, with one week in between each training cohort. Outreach, recruitment and screening will be ongoing. There will be four cohorts.

3. Where will the training be held? What days of the week will the trainings be held?

  • Training will be provided by Mountain View College at a project site in Vickery Meadow.

  • Participants can receive 4.8 CEUs for 48 hours of training, 5.9 CEUs from the 59-hour soft skills program, and 8 hours of financial education.

    • Certified Logistics Associate (CLA)
      August 7-August 17

      Mondays: 1-5 p.m. (Lecture) & 5-10 p.m. (Hybrid)
      Tuesdays: 3-6 p.m.(Lecture) & 6-10 p.m. (Hybrid)
      Thursdays: 1-3 p.m. (Lecture) & 4-10 p.m. (Hybrid)

    • AEL Career Readiness/Win At Work
      August 10-September 16

      Fridays: 9 a.m.-12 p.m. (Lecture)
      Saturdays: 9 a.m.-2 p.m. (Lecture)  

    • Certified Logistics Technician (CLT)
      August 21-August 31

      Mondays: 1-5 p.m. (Lecture) & 5-10 p.m. (Hybrid)
      Tuesdays: 3-6 p.m.(Lecture) & 6-10 p.m. (Hybrid)
      Thursdays: 1-3 p.m. (Lecture) & 4-10 p.m. (Hybrid)

 

4. What all does the project offer?

  • Training for certification as Certified Logistics Associate

  • Entry level position in the field

  • 8 hours of financial education

  • Adult Education and Literacy basic skills & career readiness certification will be combined into training

  • English language, math, reading & writing skills

  • Career pathway training

  • Clients will also earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) upon completing the program. Logistics is a 48-hour course that will give each student 4.8 CEUs & the 59-hour Soft Skills program will give each student 5.9 CEUs.

 

Social Services

 

1. Do you offer social services?

  • Yes. Transportation and emergency assistance are all offered through our project partner, Services of Hope. The project site is convenient to DART rail and bus stops. The DCCCD/DART partnership will offer free student bus passes. Also, Services of Hope has two vans that can meet specific transportation needs, as well as uniforms needed for work.

  • Child care services are also provided through Priceless Child Care & Learning Centers, another project partner to Transformance.

  • As far as any other social services needed, case managers will be available to help with clients unmet needs and link them to other project partners for assistance.

 

2. Where are the child care sites?

  • There are child care sites all over DFW provided by church-based programs and other sources. Transportation is offered by Services of Hope.

It depends on the position. Annual positions and salaries for warehouse logistics include:

  • Logistics support: $27,000

  • Logistics coordinators: $33,000

  • Cargo & freight agents: $42,200

  • Production, planning & expediting clerks: $46,100

  • Transportation managers: $62,000

  • Logistics managers: $63,000

  • Logistics specialists: $73,000

  • Transportation, shortage & distribution managers: $86,200

  • Supply chain managers: $89,000

3. Who are Transformance partners?

  • Transformance, Inc. has partnered with seven organizations to complete this project, including Mountain View College, Wright Resource Group, Inspiring Tomorrow’s Leaders, Services of Hope, Northwest Community Center, Workforce & Priceless Child Care and Learning Centers.

  • Transformance, Inc. will provide clients access to the comprehensive financial capability services.

  • Mountain View College will be responsible for education & training to qualify students for credentialing as Certified Logistics Associates.

  • Wright Resource Group, LLP will provide work readiness, career pathways content, prepare students that complete training program & work collaboratively with Transformance Case Managers after the transition of project clients to employment.

  • Inspiring Tomorrow’s Leaders (ITL) will provide leadership for outreach, recruitment and screening processes, incorporate the collaborative services of Transformance and Services of Hope, & facilitate preliminary processes with those who meet basic project criteria. They will also provide mentoring, training, and shadowing opportunities.

  • Services of Hope (SOH) will meet transportation needs, obtain required uniforms, assist with emergency funds, assist with outreach to apartment complexes and recreation centers & assist with childcare needs.

  • Northwest Community Center (NCC) will provide the project site for the program, conveniently located near bus stop & center is well equipped to meet needs.

  • Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas (WSGD) will serve as a resource to clients within limits of benefits that require state funding.

  • Priceless Childcare & Learning Centers will help clients apply to Child Care Group for child care support & will offer their services at discounted rate.
